I'm so excited for the new fall series "Glee". This show completely brings out my inner band/performing arts geek-ness and the pilot episode has me hooked!
I am a product of and hardcore fan of the 80s 'power ballads' including the gem featured here from Journey. As I watched the video and began tapping my toes to the music, I marveled at the cinematography and at the fresh faces of these young singer/actors—oh, and did I mention I’m a huge fan of movie trailers set to music? Then, as if hit by a freight train, I couldn’t help but notice: Pretty white girl, handsome white boy (singing the leads, of course), heavier black girl, Asian-American girl, skinny white boy… hmmm… how politically correct, I thought. Then—pow!—the kicker: Nerdy kid playing the electric guiltar in a wheel chair. Gimme a break! I dunno what this show was about, but I completely lost interest—after, of course, I listened to the end of my beloved multi-platinum band’s song! (Come to think of it, maybe this show wasn't aimed at the almost 40 crowd...)
